Excellent! - I was highly satisfied with my experience at the Walk-In Clinic on McEwen Drive in Franklin, TN. Great Front Desk Staff and my Nurse and Doctor Shackleford were the best. It was a quick check in and very short wait on a Monday visit at noon. The parking lot looked full but there was only a few people waiting to see a doctor.
This location has some staffing and management problems. Various members of my family have visited this location with mixed service. However, service on two particular visits make me consider going elsewhere. The first incident occurred in August 2017 when my six year old broke his arm. I knew his arm was broken and called ahead to ask if they could perform x-rays and put a split on it. I was told to bring him in. They took x-rays and confirmed it was broken but couldn’t or wouldn’t splint it. I was referred to Vanderbilt Bone & Joint which was closing for the evening about 15-minutes after the time I was told that I needed to go elsewhere for a splint or cast. In my opinion, I should have been referred there from the start especially considering that time was of the essence with regard to the closing time of the Boin & Joint Center. Two co-pays, two sets of x-rays and two hours later we got a cast. If we had arrived 5-minutes later at the Bone & Joint Center, it would have been closed and we would have had to make a trip to the ER.
In both cases, things worked out in the end but things could have been handled better on the front end. Maybe the girl that answered the phone when I called to inquire about splinting was new. Maybe the NP was just having a bad day. Either way, service can be really luck of the draw.... Both issues could be addressed with better training and/or some better protocols.
The second incident occurred in October 2017 when I came in with sinus pain. The nurse practitioner spent about 30-seconds in the room, asked few if any questions, and sent me on my way after stating that it was ‘probably just a virus’. She was short and somewhat abrasive. The next morning I returned with worse congestion and more sinus pain and saw a doctor this time. She was much more thorough and went above and beyond my expections to giving some different options (prescriptions were somewhat limited due to a recent surgery).
I have been here a few times for everything from pneumonia to broken bones that seem to pop up over the weekend. Have always been quite pleased with the service and care!
After coming in three times, given two separate throat swabs for Strep, I was just told just to rest and take Tylenol/Advil. I was told my swab test would come in on Saturday, but had to go in on Sunday for another swab test, then had to call in late afternoon on Sunday to even get a result for the test that was supposed to come in the day before... My supposed "virus" has now relapsed and is back twice as worse than before. Well it so turns out from a more qualified doctor that I needed a steroid shot and antibiotics due to these symptoms. This place is more about getting in, paying a bill, and getting out. Please go somewhere else as they will just keep asking you to come back in to tell you the same thing. Take care of yourself and go somewhere else, you deserve it.
$1,702 for a 30 minute visit and penicillin shot. This is beyond absurd... Emergency room rates for mediocre clinic services. I thought a clinic would be cheaper than a PCP doctor or hospital, but not here... And they can't tell you what it will cost you in advance. I will never go back again.
